Celebrate Earth Day at Apex EarthFest!

In celebration of Earth Day, the Town of Apex is hosting its first Apex EarthFest on Saturday, April 23 (not to be confused with Apex PeakFest, which is coming up on May 7)! In an effort to show a commitment to keeping our planet and the community healthy, the festival will feature engaging and interactive exhibits (including an electric vehicle showcase), vendors and food trucks, an “Earth expo” by local students, a KidZone, a sustainable fashion show — courtesy of Apex Friendship High School — and TownTalks presentations.

“Taking initiative for a sustainable and resilient Earth is a commitment to future generations, and that’s what this is all about — our youth,” says Megan Pendell, sustainability coordinator for the Town of Apex. “So it only makes sense that we include our youth at the decision-making table and incorporate youth- and family-targeted activities at EarthFest.”

In addition to student-led exhibits, there will also be face paint, henna, giant bubbles, music, a variety of dance and art. Apex EarthFest is intended to be a regional event, offering everyone ways to learn about, participate in and celebrate our planet. The hope is that the community will have FUN, contribute to any of the many hands-on activities and gain at least one takeaway of new information. As Mayor Jacques Gilbert says, “There is nothing we can’t accomplish when we work together.”

“The Town of Apex is the Peak of Good Living, and sustainability is ensuring the Peak of Good Living for current AND future generations,” says Pendell. “We know that what we do counts, and what we do together counts more. Apex EarthFest is an opportunity to bring our regional community together to meet our neighbors and collaborate on how we can all play a part to ensure a sustainable and resilient future. We hope to see you there!”
