As Fuquay-Varina gears up for a busy fall event season, you’ll consistently find our dedicated police and fire departments with the community — and working to keep it safe. From hosting events like National Night (held in August by the Police Department) and the Fire Department’s annual Open House in late October, to a year-round presence at local gatherings, these departments go above and beyond. They also offer a wealth of valuable free services that many residents may not be aware of. Here are a few you should know about:
Child Passenger Safety Seat Inspections – Did you know motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children ages 2-14? Often, this is due to child safety seats and seat belts not being used correctly.
The Fuquay-Varina Fire Department offers free child passenger safety seat inspections and installations to ensure your child is protected. Certified technicians are available at all four fire stations every day, except when responding to emergencies, from 8 a.m. to noon and again from 2-8 p.m.
You can also schedule an appointment with a certified technician from the Fuquay-Varina Police Department by calling (919) 552-3191.
Medicine Drug Collection Disposal – Dispose of unwanted, unused, or expired medications at the Fuquay-Varina Police Department located at 401 Old Honeycutt Road, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. www.fuquay-varina.org/police
Safe Exchange Zone – The Fuquay-Varina Police Department offers a Safe Exchange Zone at its facility located at 401 Old Honeycutt Road. This designated area, under 24/7 video surveillance, provides a secure location for online transactions and child custody exchanges, offering added peace of mind.
