Fuquay-Varina Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration

Join the Cultural Arts Society of Fuquay-Varina on Monday, Jan. 18th at 10:00am for a virtual celebration of the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Held at various local churches over the past 16 years, this annual event will be delivered for a 17th consecutive year via the Cultural Arts Society of Fuquay-Varina’s YouTube channel and various Facebook watch parties rather than in person. The board of directors are adhering to local COVID-19 restrictions on large, in-person events and have worked for several months to deliver a dynamic, message-rich virtual program that offers the same (or better) experience than an in-person event.

Highlights of the event will include the following:
Keynote address by Rev. Floyd Wicker, II
Spoken Word Composition (based on MLK’s Letter from Birmingham Jail)
– written and performed by Jasmine Mallory (aka, Butterfly Beauty)
Greetings from Fuquay-Varina Mayor John Byrne
Greetings from Fuquay-Varina Police Chief Laura Fahnestock
Musical Selections by Brian Hamilton
“Head to Toe” – musical selection from Iconic Bond
Musical selections by Stellar Award nominee Gospel Artist Kim Person
